Some humourless, brainless little shit stain always has to open their flappy little mouths, with their thin little lips and small snadpaper like toungue and rasp "Why do people do this?" These tiny minded little simpletons feel compelled to ask this question every time. We must assume that as they are brainless, humourless little shit stains that they do not have any hobies or interets themselves. Like good little patriots, they probably tie themselves to their desks 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. They were probably "straight edge" assholes when they were at college. The sort of self righteous grining idiots who you just want to push down the stairs. They probably go to the gym once a week, the irony of driving their 4 litre SUV's 10 miles to a building where they then pay run on a machine completly lost on them. They watch CNN and the Weather Channel and read the New York Times. They vote Republican even though they take no interests in the policies or the people they are voting for; in fact they only care one day in every four years. They hate their lives and wish they were millionaires, but don't have the brains to figure out how to do it. So they'll be stuck in their dead end desk job until they retire in 30 years with a pension in a fund that collapsed 10 years earlier and has left them with $50 a week to live on. Their children will visit them twice a year but they'll never have anything to talk to them about. These whiney little bitches know this. They know their lives have been shit, are shit and will be shit. So they make whiney little bitch comments like "Why do people bother?", partly because they can't stretch their feeble little minds to comprehend, partly because the little understanding they have managed makes them jealous, partly becuase they just hate their pathetic little lives and want to make someone elses life feel a little more pathetic. Of course they're a failure at that too, so that just adds to their feelings of worthlessness.
Then we have idiots like you who have to defend their pathetic little lives and their pathetic little attitudes. Don't even get me started on people like you.
Slashdot has simply turned into a shit version of Plastic. All the whiny little "Your Rights Online" crap that Micheal posts here clogs up Slashdot and forces out the good stuff[1]. It wouldn't be so bad even, except that a) They are usually not about your rights & b) They are usually nothing to do with the Internet. In other words, they are neither "Your Rights" or "Online". Instead we get stories about the MPAA, which then quickly fills up with comments from idiots who don't understand Intellectual Property law or even simple logic, flaming each other for being idiots and correcting each others grammer. It is a veritable shit fest of awfullness.
How about that amazing peice of non-news the other day about ATI apparently dropping all Linux driver support (Those bastards!) It generated over 400 enraged idiot comments, yet if the original idiot submitter had bothered to email ATI they would have found out it was a mistake : the drivers are linked from the "Find a Driver" page again, just as they were before.
But no, we have to have whiney stories that 14 year old idiots can get in an uninformed frenzy about.
[1]: Were are the stories for Geeks? I want to read about home built rockets, people blowing stuff up with mortars, the history of an interesting banned narcotic, histories of computing poineers, kids who build nuclear reactors as science projects...anything but "Your non-rights not online" from the Censor Nazi himself. Fuck that. The only good thing left about Slashdot is the occasional story like this one (Which isn't that interesting; where is the detail? Wow, an embedded web server. Not seen that 10 times before..). That & the trolls (& not the idiot 14 year olds who First Post! and wouldn't know a quality troll if it bit their tiny cocks off).
