Deus Ex Takes On Cassandra Project
Thanks to an anonymous reader for pointing to the release of The Cassandra Project: Episode 1, an adult-content replete single-player mod for Deus Ex that's been in development for over 2 years. According to pre-release info, the mod contains "..25,000 words or so of dialogue, 95% new player skins.. five newly-modelled and animated weapons, new music, voiced elements, assorted new decorated models including everything from a ZX Spectrum to a frying pan... and a car that thinks it's a Jerry Springer extra." There's a hands-on preview at the Deus Ex Machina site, and a look at a sample screenshot from the mod, barely released before the Deus Ex sequel, indicates good use of zebra-skin clothing and a copy of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.
This could be the first and only Deus Ex mod that is ever released. The DX mod community has consisted largely of two or three people slapping together some concept art (some new guns, a few rooms in a map) with a heavily graphical website and calling themselves a mod in progress.
Perhaps now that all those have died off, and the real dedication and talent has conglomerated a bit, we will see some real quality mods before Deus Ex: Invisible War comes out.
I'm looking forward to the rest of Casandra, as well as Red Sun 2020

Will there be any Xbox mods. I wonder how mods for an xbox game would work. You would probably have to go through the game developers and everything, microsoft def. won't allow home brewed code to run on their piece of hardware.
I was planning on reinstalling DeusEx anyway, in anticipation of the sequel this fall. Now I get twice the mileage.
Three times the mileage if the adult content is any good.

Be careful on what links you click. I clicked the picture of the WRX and got into an infinite pop-up loop.
I must admit that I am incredibly impressed by that piece of work. Not only that they did a fantastic job with the additional objects and textures (48K Spectrum anyone? Or the Duke Nukem 3D game box in Stuarts office?)... no, the atmosphere is as dense as in the original Deus Ex but with more humour (the Duke Nukem reference in PC Gamers... LOL) and they even managed to surpass the original (non-disposable lock-picks etc). GREAT WORK!! I am really looking forward fo the next episodes. Come on... WORK HARDER AND RELEASE IT ASAP! :)
