    Plus, I understood (and I guess everyone else here too) this fact by reading the /. piece alone. "Got Alcohol 120% on your system? You're a pirate! We don't want you!"

    Can't the makes of the virtual drive software sue UBI? Cmon, anyone can sue anyone in this country... let's all have some fun!

    Mod me down on this if you will, but this is the same as saying "I have a fishbowl and I'm straight. You don't have a fishbowl so you must be gay."

  8. IM == phone on IM Usage & Awareness Services · · Score: 1

    My boss one came to me saying that he wanted us all to shutdown IM in the office. "It's too distracting".

    I asked him how much phone usage dropped after IM. If IM was being used "just to chat" so was the phone, but with IM people could keep working while talking about the latest Survivor episode or American Idol qualifiers. Phone usage for personal purposes dropped to almost zero.

    Of course that didn't stop him from keeping with the IM blackout plan.

    What I did? Installed one with a boss-key. ;)

    Well, you actually *can* change jobs with your H1B. The visa belongs to the employee, not the company. Of course you have to stay in the same field (IT) etc. but you can find another job.

    And do I have to remind everyone that if a company offers less-than-market pay to a H1-B candidate the INS rejects the visa application?

    Same here in "The Big Nada" (aka Winnipeg) with Shaw.

    If you guys think "a la carte" == cheaper, wake up. This is a new way for cable companies to make more money from you.

    Every single new channel here is "a la carte" for $3/month (same bulk prices as described by LordOfYourPants). I pay $3 for TechTV. Meanwhile all those channels they know people would cancel if they could are bundles with "good" ones in packages, so if you want TLC/Discovery you have to take Family Channel and The Golf Channel.
