The article on CNN describes the box with a 80 Gig hard drive, dual tuners (With HDTV), DVD, and WiFi networking capability to allow music to be transferred to the unit along with pictures from your PC. Copyright protection prevents recordings from being copied to the PC, and Charter has ordered 100,000 of these boxes." This article discusses in brief a proposed bill that would put song swappers in jail for upto 5 years as felons. The bill, sponsored by by Michigan Rep. John Conyers and California Rep. Howard Berman, goes on the assumption that each shared song has been downloaded at least 10 times, pushing the per-song offense to $2500 each - a value that would make each shared song a felony. Also discussed is the outlawing of taping movies in a theatre.
