YML Posts Macworld Coverage

Pronoun54 writes "Your Mac Life, an Internet based radio show about and for Apple and Macintosh users, has a ton of interviews from Macworld Creative Pro. They have been posting Quicktime movies all week. Macworld was a lot smaller this year and had very few announcements, but if you couldn't or didn't choose to go, they sum up the show for you."

yeah, and only 500 bucks. 600 if you want to stand up. I'm stunned. How in the hell can it possibly be worth anything even close to that?

They ship it in a flat box. So when you open it you're confronted with some steel tubing, a platform, a light, and some wheels. For which you've paid $500. At that point how could you not feel like an idiot?

Ignoring those who cannot apprieciate form and function, I think this is a great looking product. This is what Mac is all about, being different. As for the cost .... It is steep, but it also looks as though alot of time and thought went into its developement ... I am sure that as with all things, the price will come down ... I would buy one ... but my FP iMac sits nicely in our living room atop the stereo ... cranking out tunes ...

    Dear Apple:

I bought an Apple computer because of its native support for teledildonics. I bought a USB FUFME and MacOS immediately recognized it and installed drivers instantly! As a gay Catholic priest who often can't be at the altar all the time, you can understand how the ability to have sex with children whilst on the airplane with my Powerbook and wireless internet service is a lifesaver.

I just have a single question, will Apple be releasing a firewire version of the FUFME anytime soon?

This was my first Macworld (and probably not my last), and I had fun, as did the Linux-geek-who-loves-OSX that I went with. I was kind of disappointed that Adobe didn't have a booth of their own (nor a beta of After Effects 6.0), but it was cool enough just to mess around with huge Photoshop files on a G5... my God those things are fast (and they're also really quiet!). Also, to see Expose in action was really something... it makes all those screenshots I've seen previously all that more believable.

Oh, and the presentation by Fischerspooner was fun... I think they may have a new fan here ^_^

I've been sitting here at my freelance gig in front of a Mac (a 8600/300 w/64 Megs of RAM) for about 20 minutes now while it attempts to copy a 17 Meg file from one folder on the hard drive to another folder. 20 minutes. At home, on my Pentium Pro 200 running NT 4, which by all standards should be a lot slower than this Mac, the same operation would take about 2 minutes. If that.

In addition, during this file transfer, Netscape will not work. And everything else has ground to a halt. Even BBEdit Lite is straining to keep up as I type this.

I won't bore you with the laundry list of other problems that I've encountered while working on various Macs, but suffice it to say there have been many, not the least of which is I've never seen a Mac that has run faster than its Wintel counterpart, despite the Macs' faster chip architecture. My 486/66 with 8 megs of ram runs faster than this 300 mhz machine at times. From a productivity standpoint, I don't get how people can claim that the Macintosh is a superior machine.

Mac addicts, flame me if you'd like, but I'd rather hear some intelligent reasons why anyone would choose to use a Mac over other faster, cheaper, more stable systems.
