Why Outsource When Workers are Willing to Telecommute?

An anonymous reader asks: "Corporations and management resisted telecommuting for years, now jobs flow to distant nations. Did telecommuting become acceptable because of the greater distance? Because some form of on-site management persists? Because labor laws are favorable? Because a well paid middle class is a political threat? Is it really as simple as money? I'll work cheaper if I can choose where I live and work. Must I leave my country to do so?"

So what happens is, you call your ISP's tech support line, which is out-sourced to India, and some guy named Abignazarath answers. Little do you know the only English that Abignazarath can speak is "Hello" and "What is your problem, sir?"... -"My problem is that you don't understand a word I'm saying". "Yes sir, what is your problem, sir?".... *sigh*

Ah! It's a vast rich-wing conspiracy! Silly me not to see the class warfare in all of this.

The problem is, withj companies like EMC and Sun (and probably many others), foreigners have worked their way into SENIOR MANAGEMENT.

It's racism, favoritism, and a takeover from within.

Stockholders don't care because their livlihood is tied to short-term stock trends: they pay no penalty when their company harms the overall worker economy. Unemployment could quite literally be 99% and if your job is in trading stocks... so what?

Of course, in other countries these assholes would get their asses kicked by the public... but we're already a Corporaticracy and you'll be even worse off resisting. Besides, the news says we're not in a recession, and everyone has confidence in the republic. It's highly unlikely that corporations are cooking the news...
