PKWare Files a Patent Application for Secure .zip

prostoalex writes "The battle of ZIP formats might intensify as PKWare filed an application with USPTO to obtain a patent on its Secure Zip technology, which pretty much involves archiving with strong cryptography. If the patent gets granted, PKWare will license its algorithms for other software manufacturers. A representative of Aladdin Systems summed it up: "The good thing about the .zip file format was that you knew you could send it to everyone. Now that's getting broke.""

      I am unable to log in to my account. Can you provide technical assistance? I have typed my username and password, but I'm unable to figure out this gosh darn Slashdot thing! Man its so complicated (and I'm not so bright), with buttons going every which way and what not. Please help ASAP.

      Becuase he wouldn't want me to create bounce rules that bounced every sigle email back to his email address and the rest of the editors. Or perhaps he would prefer that he be reported to various spam databases, since any email you sign up for that you cant opt out of is considered spam.
