Mozilla Thunderbird 0.1 Released

An anonymous reader submits: The Mozilla Thunderbird (stand-alone Mozilla based mail/news reader) developers have just released their first milestone: version 0.1, available for Mac Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. The v0.1 release notes highlight some of the bigger features like customizable toolbars, UI extensions, contact manager sidebar, simplified UI, 3-pane mail window option, and spell checker. Also of note, Mozilla's usage share has risen from 1.2% in February to 1.6% now, a 33% improvement!"

    33% usage improvement is great.

Unfortunately, the 500% increase in useless features, bloat, slowness, and bugs is not as great.

I've been changing my neighbors over as they have problems with Intestinal Exploder and Outhouse Excess. Stuff like the ease of browser hijacking by porn sites (who are obviously getting paid by the hit and not for any customer goodwill they generate!) and the email worms that set up spam proxies makes it pretty easy to close the deal.

And it was kinda like a gut bomb. Sorta like the look and feel of Netscoop that has carried into this release. I hope they can add skin support and get something new/unified going to synch up with firebird and be sleek-esque. Any plans for this?

Tried it and it crashed on me. I guess that's what I get for buying into the Slashdot hype.

And whats with the fonts? Looks like somebody spewed diahrea onto my monitor. I thought you linux guys fixed this terrible font problem you had?

And make sure you download mozilla so that you can use the extensions!

Yay, do I get mod points for linking to a easily-Googled freaking website?
