Privacy Incursions to Support Price Discrimination

An anonymous reader writes "BusinessWeek has an interesting interview with academic Andrew Odlyzko about how increased corporate spying will inevitably lead to targeted pricing and how this system can be abused." The paper (pdf) makes interesting reading. Very good insights into the reasons why businesses want to get to know you.

You also probably do not live in a small town where justice is available only to the old and well dressed driving jags or cadillacs. I should know, I was slapped with a ticket and a few other charges in the past, and despite pleading a good case and the cops having a shaky case (couldn't even organize their information) they STILL won.

Perhaps if you weren't so much of an asshole punk, the cops wouldn't target you.
