EU Says Microsoft's Abuses Are Ongoing
levell writes "Although the legal difficulties Microsoft was having in the US seem to be drawing to a close, it's not yet over in the EU. In this story, the BBC reports that the EU says it is still abusing its monopoly with Windows Media Player, and perhaps more interestingly from a Linux point of view, also in the low-end server market. The story is also being covered on CNN, Ananova, Reuters, etc." The EU's press release is informative.

Not that I have anything against punishing Microsoft, but are we talking about the same EU comprised of ex-Nazis, ex-Fascists, cowards, ultra-nationalists, and ex-communists. Yes I know US is not any better, but at least the capitalist game is consistent.

Man I want a 17" Dell with a processor that won't catch my pants on fire when I use it. It is called a LAPtop for a reason.
I can't wait to get that $859 17" Dell laptop. I am sure it comes with Intel's top of the line CPU! Not some crappy Celeron! It wounldn't come with some crappy 14.1" XGA TFT screen either! Nope not from Dell! I am sure that the it doesn't come with less that 512MB of RAM either! Heck I bet I can even upgrade it to 1GB if I need to! I also want to edit video on the thing so I am sure that it has a firewire port, and at least a 60GB HD like the 17" Apple. Speaking of video I want to burn DVD's. I can't wait to do that with my $859 Dell Laptop! Do you know what software I get with it to do that? I am sure that it is integrated well in to the system and easy to use. I also like to sit in the living room and connect to my wireless router, again I am sure that Dell includes that in their $859 laptop like the 17" Apple. I can't wait to get Microsoft XP Professional Edition either. Man that Home edition kinda sucks! All this for $859!!!! Man what a deal. I am sure that the video card is one of the new ATI or GeForce cards, not some last generation card. I also can't wait to see how long the battery last while in use. I am sure that it is WAY longer than the 17" Macintosh.

The laptop I just speced out that has a Intel Pentium(R)M,1.7GHz,14.1XGA ATI 64MB Video is over $3,800. I thought you said that I could get one for $859.

Wow, I didn't realize how anti-American slashdot has become. That you fucking liberals would jump for joy at a FOREIGN country imposing their slanted, illogical laws on an AMERICAN company is astounding, but I guess not too surprising.
Try not to be so anti-US that you lose sight of reality. Europe has had 50 years of relative peace because the US has either occupied potential aggressors or threatened them with nuclear weapons. Europe is so militarily powerless that it couldn't handle the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Without US military power, the Soviet Union would have owned Europe by 1960. When Germany invades France again in the next 50 years, I hope you remember this. (P.S. I'll bet they invade France through the Low Countries again, and I'll bet the French fall for it again.)
