Carmack on New id Game, Game Theory

An anonymous reader writes "CNN/Money interviewed id Software wizard John Carmack at the recently completed QuakeCon. Among the topics discussed is Nintendo's recent announcement that today's games are too complicated and hard for players. Carmack, surprisingly, agrees, saying 'I agree strongly with that point of view, but I'm in the minority in the PC space. I want a game you can sit down with, pick up and play. [Role playing games], for example, got to where they had to have a book ship with the game.'"

    I can't believe Carmack is regarded in any way as a leader or benefactor. He's a fricken nerd, he'll never have sex, not even with a priest, and he'll never be able to enter society in a normal fashion.

    Slashdot readers typically run GNU/Lunix, so of course they have a very limited selection of cards that will run on their POS boxes.

    Am I the only one here noticing that NINTENDO is making these comments?

    It's obvious what is going on:

    Nintendo wants to paint PS2/XBOX as being consoles that have complicated games, while Nintendo games are very easy and idiots can learn how to play them. Basically Nintendo is saying "We are the AOL of the Console world. Come to us if you are a moron, we will rape you of your money and give you mindless pleasure."

    It figures, since GC sucks (PATHETIC ONLINE CAPABILITY), it's no wonder Nintendo is using indirect means to make them out to be the "Console of the Sophomoric"
