Build Your Own Lava Lamp

Manip writes "My new project: 'The difficult part about making your own liquid motion lamp is, of course, the motion. We won't go into the lamp base too much. The store-bought ones use a 40w appliance bulb in a metal housing which directs the heat to the underside of the glass container. If you're making your own base, we recommend installing a dimmer switch so that you can control your heat output.'"

    Years back, I worked the night shift at a computer company, working the phones. To set the proper mood at my desk, I brought in my Lava Lamp. Within a few days, one of the stupid cowardly day shift people couldn't resist and open up the bottle, spilling about a half an inch. In their panic to close it, they pinched the gasket in the thread and punctured it. They person never fessed up. It hasn't worked the same and I'll never forgive thewm. If you're the one that did this, you owe me fifty bucks. Pay up.

      Hi.

      I'm conducting a survey, the aim of which is to eventually understand what possesses people to post spelling, typo and grammatical flames like yours. Can you explain why you felt the need to post as you did? This is a sincere, serious request.

      By the way, should you see anything in this post you find grammatically displeasing, do feel free to add that commentary too. My keyboard isn't working well but don't let that stop you! I'm sure the results will be fascinating (once again, I'm not being sarcastic - I'm genuinely interested in your motivations, feelings of temporary superiority, frustrations or whatever).
