Microsoft Dislikes Nations Trying to Escape Lock-in

Johnny Mnemonic writes "Reuters, link to C|Net, is reporting that Microsoft considers a possible collaboration among three Asian nations to produce their own OS "unfair". You just can't make this stuff up. Shouldn't Asian nations also have the Freedom to Innovate? Or is this merely a dodge by Microsoft to demonstrate that they really do face competition? Will they hire Boies to prosecute their case?"

    30000 people died in the worst terrorist attack in recorded history that ocurred just under two years ago, and you people are discussing how Microsoft dislikes the cooperation of three East-Asian countries to build an OS that will threaten the position of Windows and is a clear sign that the future superpower will surely be a united East-Asia??? My *god*, people, GET SOME PRIORITIES!!!

    i hope they make their own network-protocols too.

    considering the TCP/IP an AMERICAN military invention ...

    the web's fast today, with all these uni campuse networks slowing to a crawl no lazy student has time to surf the net ;)

    Asian countries not being able to be bought/bribed....

    Obviously you have never been to Asia. You can buy/bribe anyone and anything. Hell you can buy a human being over there still :)

    They place a different value on a human life then we westerners do :)

    HAHAHA! - who on this planet can seriously doubt that the french will _ever_ stop to think independently?
    - In my experience, every frenchman will be convinced that the world revolves around him.
    This results in really obnoxious politicians wanting to control everything (since they regard themselves as demi-gods; the world revolves around them - non? ).
    What rescues the french is that since _every_ french person is convinced that the world revolves around them, they will promptly ignore the decisions made by the politicians.
