Advice for an Open Source Development Grant?

IgD asks: "My colleagues and I are developing an open source medical records system. A senior supervisor approached us and let us know a third party is offering a decent amount of money in the form of a grant for any legitimate medical research project. We were all but promised the money if we could come up with a proposal. Has anyone in the Slashdot community received a grant for open source software development? Are there any good examples of such a grant available? How could one measure the results of open source development for publication?"

    Instead of making this open source medical software, you should move out of your mom's house and get a real job. Perhaps eventually you will even find yourself with a girlfriend, but I don't want to get your hopes up.

    If you want your research to be respected however full of crap it is then get a PhD.

    One Prof said "for every crappy research paper there is a crappy conference and a crappy journal that will publish it"

    ...these days is to bend over and pull your asscheeks open like the Goatse guy. That's the only way you have a prayer of getting money from capitalist pigs. Unless of course you are a capitalist pig. In that case, you just need to fuck some smaller guy over and take all of his innovative ideas away claiming they are your own. That's why MS is at the top right now. After all... they invented the GUI, right??? Riiiiiight...
