Digital Ink On Billboards

cdneng2 writes "The New York Times has this article on a revolutionary new billboard. It uses digital ink, versus the typical CRT, LCD, Neon, or Plasma displays that are so prominent on the newer billboards that wastes electricity. From the article: 'By creating a paste made of tiny helix-shaped particles that can be minutely manipulated with electric charges to reflect light in highly specific ways, Magink can produce surfaces that look like paper but behave like electronic screens, rendering high-resolution, full-color images without ink - or, as Magink executives like to refer to the process, with digital ink.' The billboard can display images at 70 frames per second." You can find more articles on the billboard technology on the Magink website.

In the sixties, one didn't need to swear in a song to express one's meaning. People had this marvelous thing known as a "dictionary" which allowed them to find words with the meaning they intended to convey, which happened to form a rhyme or rythm. (Heh, I really ought to use a dictionary for spelling those two. Oh well.)

essentially, i'd like a laptop that could do 24 hours w/o ac power.

I agree. The bulky transformer boxes on the power cable that convert from ac to dc are a pain and add a lot of weight to your bag. :)

I have news for you, you monochromatic, ideological vacuumhead- people other than Republicans have had it with the Democrats, especially here in California where Dems have become utterly detached from sanity. To hear to them speak on the issues, you'd think you were listening to the ramblings of the mentally retarded on some TLC documentary on head injuries.

I'm an independent, and I'm at the point where I think the Dems in Sacramento need to be dragged out of their offices and hung from streetlights. When one of these asswipes dares to go on a radio show, people call in and threaten physical violence. I've never seen anything like it before. This whole statistics fraud that the ACLU and the 9th District Court pulled this week is very close to the last straw. Their case was completely debunked and destroyed within hours of the decision, so it's clear to all they have their own agenda, and the citizens be damned. They are taking away a constitutionally supported vote all because they have allowed their minds to become deadened by ideology. Something is going to blow very soon.

Too much of the geek world has become enamored with these lackwits who operate on a zero intellectual level and call themselves the Democrat Party. I know formerly hard core Democrats who have abandoned what anyone with a brain cell recognizes as the official tralier park and dung heap of the politcial spectrum.

I always kind of wondered why they don't just run DC to the jack in houses and have one big transformer. Heck, build a transformer into the back of each jack if you're worried about energy loss.
