I don't see why everybody is so upset about this service. Verizon might make some money off it by advertising, but it helps people who accidentely mistype a domain name.
The site design is nice and friendly to the user and even features a handy search engine! There are no advertisement banners whatsoever.
You just have to admit it: It's a handy feature and a good business decission.
It depends on the code. Remember, the DeCSS code was only 7 lines of Perl. That had fairly far reaching effects on the rights of computer users.
The impact wasn't the code, but the decryption keys.
I have a script that does more aggregate data to correlate friend/fan/foe/freak relationships in bash, maybe that can get posted on Slashdot!
