Company Sells 'Turbo' 1.4GHz Xbox

cdneng2 writes "The Inquirer has an article about a TaiPei company that is selling a modified Xbox running a 1.4GHz Celeron, versus the console's 733MHz Pentium III. The firm, Friendtech is also offering an Xbox Mod that provides S-Video, 5.1 Surround, and a hard disk upgrade in one package." There are some pictures of the prototype on the official site, although it's unclear if the legally uncertain mod will make much practical difference to native Xbox games (Polygonmag claims "the prototype loaded data at nearly twice the speed of a retail Xbox.")

My phone just rang, but I couldn't bring myself to answer. Torn between my desire for company and my furiously raging insecurities, I let the call go to voicemail.

The message she left confirmed my worst fears--and my sole exhilaration.

"Call me when you get this," comes her throaty whisper. "I'll be up 'til late tonight."

But I dare not call back, for I am a prisoner; I am the warden; I have swallowed the key and left myself to starve.

It's been close to eleven months since last I had sex, and sometimes I still find myself thinking of that furtive adventure; that girl was smart and sexy, with a piercing wit and an innocent smile that used to light my loins on fire. The girl who left me a message just now is cute, sporty, playful and endearingly awkward, but there is simply no comparison with what I passed up last year. And, oh God, I wonder if I should settle tonight for less.

Ok, I thought I'd just wait for the advice from a random person. Thank you very much! Have a nice lunch!

Maybe I can get advise from you, too.

This amazing girl and I have been friends for nearly four years. Three years ago, I missed my chance to be with her.

Ever since then, both of us had been with different people, but now both of us are single again. She seems to be interested, but I have absolutely no confidence at all. I'm not entirely sure if she's interested or not, but I simply can't wait anymore. A few nights ago, she made a weird comment about an ex-girlfriend of mind. ("You could still go have sex with her, and there's nothing that I could do about it.") Like I said though, no confidence whatsoever.

Whaddya think? I'll give anyone who's interested more background.

Oh, btw, I completely agree with the above poster.. um, "hit that."

Author of the original post here. My advice: alcohol, and lots of it. Preferably for the both of you. If she's interested, but she's not the type to take matters into her own hands--then it's up to you to find an excuse for her to come over after the two of you hit the bar or whatever.

Too obvious a solution? More details please.

This girl and I spent the blackout putting away a few beers together on a Manhattan rooftop, waiting for the lights to come back on. But she hesitated to invite me into her apartment, claiming to have work the next day. I strongly feel that if we were drunker, or if either of us had a ready excuse, I wouldn't be staring down eleven months right now and she wouldn't be sleeping alone tonight. But who really knows?
