The Smart Sensor Web
Roland Piquepaille writes "As writes Vincent Tao for GEO World, integrating the billions of sensors already present in our environment with the power of the Web will represent 'a revolutionary leap in earth observation.' 'In short, the Sensor Web offers full-dimensional, full-scale and full-phase sensing and monitoring of Earth at all levels: global, regional and local.' The Sensor Web will need to have five characteristics to be successful. It must be interoperable, intelligent, dynamic, flexible and scalable. And the Sensor Web architecture will have four layers: a sensor layer, a communication layer, a location layer and an information layer. When it's here, it will have 'extraordinary significance for science, environmental monitoring, public safety and many other domains of activity.' This summary contains the essential concepts of the original and dense article."
first post maybe just maybe i dunno wowee i wonder if i'll get first post iono if 20 seconds has passed yet, i shoulda been checking the clock...ack, i might spent too much time on this and not get first post!!!!

For the first time in 95 years, the Cubs have won a postseason series. They did it by beating the Braves 5-1 in Game 5 of the division series.
Go Cubs!
I just stuck my car key into my peepee hole and turned it on. And my car started! How 'bout that?
Shameless plug:
My shareware database server is designed to capture loads of time series readings and serve them up. It's only $50 to license, and you can use a full blown version before you even do that.
This is my sig.
I just LOVE #macfilez's site! Especially the "fash" section, where I learned to cut the bottom off of an old shirt to use as a hair enhancement! Oh, and the "dance party" photos!
Of course, don't forget to read #macfilez's emails! Here you will discover how truly difficult it is to decide what to do on the weekends... Have a pizza party? A fash party? Go to the mall with all of your friends? Have a sleepover and call boys on the phone?
In short, if you haven't checked out #macfilez's site, you don't know what you're missing!
In Soviet Russia, bad slashdot cliche's abuse YOU!
not to troll, but I am damn tired of this 'the it spending economy is bad, the sky is falling' mentality repeated by IT HR people and IT executives.
This is a large amount of crap to punish the IT workers whom those companies had such a hard time hiring in the late 1990s.
There are IT jobs, people are getting hired, salaries are stable.
The big companies need to realize that the USA based IT workers can and will be competitive with the rest of the world given a fair chance.
In short, be positive about the IT market and IT prospects since every person you help to influence to have a favorable IT outlook can influence someone in HR or management at an IT company to hire you.
has twice as many gears
:)
Did you miss this part or do I need to dig up my gearing ratios and post them?
The fact remains that all the horsepower in the world won't get you anywhere if you can't overcome the static friction of whatever load it is you're trying to pull. I didn't say it would tow *quickly*; I said it would tow *more*
Also, whether you want to believe me or not, inline engines *do* produce more low end torque than V-twins because of their design.
