Mono-culture And The .NETwork Effect
Sun Tzu writes "This article discusses the dangers posed by a very successful Mono project. Microsoft has several means at their disposal to effectively shut down Mono if it should ever gain critical mass. Unfortunately, Linux would be the big loser if that were to happen."
It's the kissing disease.
Linux users should keep using inferior development tools and avoid .NET like the plague. That way anyone looking for a modern, fast, and reliable development environment will naturally choose the Windows platform and .NET framework, and won't have to bother with the legal issues surrounding the SCO case, not to mention the inhernet insecurity of Linux systems.
Linux is still a big loser.
Bitch please! Someone needs to mod you down to -10 troll. You are so full of it. The statments of fact made in the article are NOT FUD. In case you weren't aware, FUD = Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.
;P
First off, there is no fear in the OSS community. We are people who are well aware of what is going on in the tech industry and we dictate the direction it takes.
Second, there is no uncertainty that no one is going to use Mono.
And finally, third, I have no doubt that Mono is dying. Much like BSD, the Mono project's beleaguered development community was hit with another crippling bombshell... errr... wait.
