Mandrake Linux 9.2 Hits the Street
joestar writes "Just announced at Mandrake's website, Mandrake 9.2 (FiveStar) has just been released. Mandrake Club members get full access to 9.2 ISOs (through BitTorrent), as well as... all 9.2 contributors and translators. But the best news, in addition to all (impressive) 9.2 features is that everybody can access the traditional binary & sources tree! Public release of Mandrake 9.2 ISOs will happen at the same time as Mandrake 9.2 Pack availability in retail. It makes sense."
Somehow i remember reading something about spyware in the last release of mandrake. Too bad i can't find the links now.
Sorry folks. I won't touch you with a 10m pole now.

Since when is Netscape a proprietary application? Sources have been available since 1998!

Shut the fuck up, please.
"Mandrake Linux 9.2 is a "100% Free Software" product. This means that everyone is granted the right to access the sources, modify and redistribute the software"
Funny then that this download is only for paying memembers. Like some others have pointed out, public Bittorent link please. If its truly free redistribute it. I like Mandrake, but I respect the right to access free software a hell of a lot more.
If you wanna get rich, you know that payback is a bitch
OK asshats. Get this through your head. 99% of the user audience DOESN'T want a GUI that minimizes to ugly non anti-aliased icons on the desktop. They WANT drop shadows. They want nice looking backgrounds. CDE is an eyesore. When I have to log into my Sun boxes I puke every time I see that fucking ugly display. All those hard sharp edges are rough on the eyes. The color schemes are horrible. And without anything to soften (a little blurring works well) the image, it's unbearable to look at for more than a few minutes at a time. And that sucks because more often than not, I have to work on those systems for a few hours at a time. Thank god for GNOME. I can't wait until that becomes the default UI. In general, if I can avoid having to look at ugly CDE, I do. I just ssh in and export a display to my local X server runnign GNOME. But GAWD! Anyone who actually LIKES CDE has got to have some major brain damage.
