Apple Updates iBook Line With G4 Processor

Kyro writes "Apple today upgraded their iBook notebook range across the board to G4 processors, Airport Extreme, bluetooth, USB 2.0, and slot-loading combo drives. All models ship with Mac OS X 10.3, and the 12" model gets a 800Mhz G4 while the 14" models get a choice of 933Mhz or 1Ghz. Prices largely remain the same as the old G3 versions." Mwongozi adds "Although not announced on the front page, the Apple Store was updated just a few minutes ago to show the new iBook."

I'm sorry, but didn't App-hole just come out with the G5??? Why are they so behind in getting their own chip installed in their laptops?

App-hole treats last-years chip like Intel does the Centrino - yesterdays top of the line G4 becomes todays bottom of the line budget processor.

Still, though, it is completely disconcerting that App-hole hasn't figured out how to get the hot as hell power-hungry G5 into either the PowerCrook or the iCrook laptops. When will they figure that out? Probably in 5 years, when the G6 comes out.

Who in their right mind is going to buy an App-hole laptop w/ a G4 in it?? Have you ever tried to run OSuX on a G4? PAINFUL - thats the only word you can use to describe the experience. SUCK comes to mind... maybe YOU FAIL IT for all you /.'ers out there.

App-hole needs to get their shit together... those freaks think pretty graphics sell machines, and they're dead wrong.

What is it with constant Apple updates on /. ? IS it the paid advertising from Apple on the site? Seriously, I don't see a news post on "Dell Optiplex line updated with Mobiplex" or "HP Pavillion now includes Centrion".

Why whore yourselves to covering every little thing that Apple does? There are plenty of Mac websites for that...
