More E-Voting Software Leaks Surface

Christopher Soghoian writes "Sound like something you've seen before? Wired News reports that the software which runs Sequoia's AVC Edge voting machines has been accidentally placed on another company's publicly available FTP server, although this time it's the binary, rather than the source that's been leaked. Machines running this software were used in California's Riverside County for the 2000 presidential election and for last month's California gubernatorial recall election. The system also has been used in counties in Florida and Washington state."

Bet Mr Bird is really scared by pings and tracroutes.

Someday slashdot is going to show the address of all past AC posts. Are you ready? I am.

As the guy who posted some his IP a few times, I'm done. I'll leave penisbird alone. If nothing else, it's gotten old, anyways, and it's really a waste of time.

But Slashdot won't show the IP addresses of AC posts, just because as Rob Malda states, sometimes it's important for people to be able to post something without it being tied to them. There are legitimate reasons to keep anonymous posting truly anonymous. Slashdot believes in this, and they won't change just because of a few trolls like you and me.

Wow, you really accomplished something. You took an annoying troll (GNAA/Penisbird) and responded by crapflooding slashdot with more crap. Then this resulted in more trolls coming out and what not. Penisbird apparently was not deterred by this (assuming thats him still posting).

Slashdot is really a better place thanks to you (NOT!)

With or without the effort of such trolls, certain ones will still post. The GNAA trolls have been known to abuse open proxies and what not to accomplish their crapflooding. What Slashdot could do, and it would be very cool, is to allow users to add certain regexps and have moderators based on that. This means it'd be possible to filter based on the content of posts in addition to filtering based on who posted it. If done correctly, it could be extremely useful, and I think Slashdot posters are clueful enough to figure out how to use a regexp. What do you think?

I think HTML should be enough for everyone. We don't need to bring user-accessible native perl into slashcomments. When I want to add <html> I use the tags. If Slashdot was to allow <perl> tags then think of all the trustor abuse of a perl tag becoming sentient! The llama is evil!
