An anonymous reader writes "Great article today on SiliconValley.com about Vietnam's solution to software piracy: eliminate Microsoft. Government tech officials are promoting a plan that would require all state-owned companies and government ministries to use open source by 2005. And they would require all computers assembled in Vietnam to be sold with open-source products installed on them."

Man wake up. I'm Irish, why should I care, but America has a massive trade deficit with china at the moment i.e. "Its fine for Americans to buy our stuff but theres no way we're buying there's..." Your economy can't sustain this discrimination - its trade in its lowest ugliest form, AND Now it's happening in Vietnam too.! It has nothing to do with open source - it has everything to do with Greedy, DIRTY dictatorships i.e: China and Vietnam et. al. playing unfairly with the rules of trade, While democatic, poor countries suffer. They make me physically sick. I think it's time for a global trade embargo against countries like China and Vietnam before this situation gets completely out of control. Don't get me wrong. - I am no friend of M$ and there needless waffle applications but this is too much.
