Apple to Fix Security Holes in Jaguar
Simon Cozens writes "Yesterday's unsubstantiated report that Apple is refusing to supply security upgrades to Jaguar turns out to be untrue; Apple told MacCentral they will be fixing the bugs turned up by @stake. Next conspiracy, please!"

Sorry...it just felt so right...
... Microsoft brown-nosers aren't they? Wasn't there a story earlier about how they fired their CTO for making comments that criticized Microsoft?
Heh! It really has - take a look as long as it's still 31Oct otherwise avert those eyes...

Actually, you'll frequently be modded as Flamebait anyway. Before posting any remark, think carefully:
Could it be interpreted as anti-Linux by an idiot?
Could it be interpreted as anti-Macintosh by an idiot?
Could it be interpreted as anti-technology by an idiot?
If you answer yes to any of the above questions, you're better off posting anonymously. Even if you are presenting an actual case with good examples. It's happened to me several times in the last few weeks.
Perhaps it is because Mac Fans tend to be irrationally devoted to their computer and will defend Apple no matter what. They are far worse that any Linux fanatic. They are a lot like Red Sox fans. They have been beaten and abused for so long that you would think that they would finally break but they keep on taking it.
I used to be a Mac user and even subscribed to magazines like MacAddict but during the dark days of Apple in the mid-90's I finally jumped ship. Now I happily use Windows XP on the desktop and Slackware on the server and I have never regretted the change.
As an example, see here.
Was he wrong? Yeah, sure. Did he deserve to be modded as "flamebait" for his statement? Hell no. It only happened because it could be interpreted as anti-Apple by a village idiot.
This wouldn't be a problem if meta-moderators took their job seriously: Carefully examine each post's context to see if the rating really applies. If you're in doubt, there's nothing wrong with giving a neutral rating to the moderation. And the burden of proof for a positive metamoderation on a negative moderation should be much higher than on a positive one.
Does this really look like a troll?
Before I'm excommunicated for failing to deliver a joke with the subtlety of a nailbat-wielding goon, would it change any minds to know that I actually use a 3-button mouse on my PowerBook? Anybody?
Obliteracy: Words with explosions
What's all this fear of being modded troll?
Is this karma shit for real? Will you be haunted in your after-life or will piano's start hitting the pavement when you go for a walk?
btw, so far I've plugged in four different multi-button mouses without the need of downloading anything.
I'm currently using a wireless Logitech. I've lost two buttons, but the 5-button MS mouse was the only one that continues to work om my wife's Toshiba, so I did the gallant thing.
(just felt like sharing this... will greatly enhance my karma, I'm sure)
I think, therefore I am...I think.
Wow, a +3 offtopic post -- those are rare. Maybe we can all get it to a +5 offtopic... Here is how I think it can be done:
- Do a couple more +1 mods to it, doesn't matter which type
- Then have someone mod it as "offtopic" to flag it as offtopic
- Finally, have someone mod it as an underrated, which does not carry a name change (such as "insightful", "interesting") with it. At this point it should be labeled as +5 offtopic.
