Star Wars Original Trilogy Gets DVD Release Date
Angry Black Man writes "The Digital Bits is reporting that there is finally some official information from Lucasfilm regarding the release of the Star Wars OT (episodes IV, V, and VI) on DVD. The movies are coming to DVD in September of 2004. The animated series of Clone Wars shorts appearing soon on the Cartoon Network will also be released on DVD, possibly before the end of this year. The teaser campaign for Episode III will begin in January of 2005, leading up to the May theatrical release. Finally... Episode III will hit DVD in November of 2005."
That was all I saw, and it got me moist as a snack cake down there.
Harry, you fat bastard, that's not the sort of image I want to be given in the morning. Excuse me while I go throw up.
The anti-RIAA/MPAA crowd falls all over themselves to hand the henchmen of the cartel their money. What happened to principle? Oh yeah this is Slashdot...
I guess I'm the only Slashdotter left who hasn't bought a DVD player and hasn't harmed the defense of digital liberty by feeding the cartels.
Sad. Just sad.

Man, I sure wish he woulda' left starwars alone after the "last 3" were completed.. These new ones have made a discrace out of the jedi.
Just wondering.

Heh canon. This is Star Wars, its a soap. Its romeo and juliet in space. If there were no explosions it would be a chick flick.
I have heard canon refer to true sci fi such as Star Trek. But Star Wars will always just be the mainstream watered down attempt at Star Trek. Star Wars never tried to build up a "canon" anywhere near as intricate as the Star Trek saga. Hell 5 movies of cheesy effects. Compare that to 10 movies and 6 tv series.
Also why are all the geeks whinging that their dvds wont be the original version. Hell they should be whinging about DVDs and their zones and bullshit.
Its like when I complained to Salmonella Dub that their Cd was copy protected. Their answer was, "buy the vinyl then".
Same story here geeks. Buy the VHS. The original Star Wars soap opera girls drama wasnt digital you know...
Or better yet, download it! Thats what I ended up doing with the Salmonella Dub album too, cos I didnt have a vinyl player.
