Penn State Students to Get Free Music From Napster

Mr. Show writes "Napster and Penn State have unveiled a deal to give faculty and students free access to music beginning next spring. The deal would give students only limited access to downloads, so presumably most of the free music will come through the streaming service that would otherwise cost a monthly fee. Will this help curb piracy on college campuses?" It might, except for students that don't run Windows.

    Penn State isn't a state school, fuckwad. It's a state-funded school, and there's a hell of a difference. PSU is like 80% private with a trickling of tax dollars coming in for specific purposes, and it sure as fuck isn't for napster. Besides, most PSU students are too busy rioting or lamenting the fact that Jo Pa has a great big 2-5 dildo up his ass to be downloading music.

    If the fee is going up $160 per student to pay for this, they're being ripped off.

    You mutherfucker we don't get free MS products at Millersville U, all we get is shitty academic pricing. And now you get free music. I'm sick of you cunts stealing all the PA money ... you're not better than us! Just because you have all those Division I sports and the TV money, well your basketball SUCKS.     If you are using an OS such as Linux, Macintosh, or Win95/98/ME, you have already marginalized yourself. You're accustomed to support for your platform coming late, if at all. The decision to limit the program to Windows 2000 and XP makes perfect sense.

    Besides, linux users smell bad. We can't reward that now can we?

    I've been using Linux since '95, and I (unlike most of the /. crowd) have come to grips with the fact that it is not a viable desktop solution.

    I've only been using it for three, and learned that different people are looking for different features for that holy grail of 'desktop viability'. I don't care if someone's using OS X, Windows, BeOS or whatever, don't tell me what's viable for MY desktop.
