New York, NY - GNAA (Gay Nigger Association of America) today announced acquisition of The SCO Group for $26.9 million in stock and $40 million in gay niggers.
GNAA today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the intellectual property and technology assets of The SCO Group, a leading provider of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, based in Lindon, Utah. GNAA's acquisition of SCO technology will help GNAA sign up more members worldwide. In addition to developing new solutions, GNAA will use SCO engineering expertise and technology to enhance the GNAA member services.
"I'd love to see these GNAA types slowly consumed by millions of swarming microbes and converted into harmless and useful biochemicals." said an anonymous slashdot poster, blinded by the GNAA success in achieving first post on a popular geek news website, slashdot.org.

After careful consideration and debate, GNAA board of directors agreed to purchase 6,426,600 preferred shares and 113,102 common shares (the equivalent of 150,803 ADSs) of SCO, for an aggregate consideration of approximately US$26.9 million and approximately $40 million for gay niggers that were working in Lindon, Utah offices of The SCO Group.
If all goes well, the final decision is to be expected shortly, followed by transfer of most SCO niggers from their Lindon, UT offices to the GNAA Headquarters in New York.

Since these video disc players are not DVD licensed, do they have the right to use DVD keys to decrypt existing DVDs? These keys, I imagine, are licensed along with the patent and royalty agreements. This will work great in non-DMCA countries, the USA, however, will likely stop them at customs after some mild lobbying from various patent owners and trade groups. It's very likely that these are destined for the huge chinese market, but they are probably hoping to skirt around the law and get these into the US as well.
Or, they may be more interested in distributing content without a licensing fee than in distributing players without paying a licensing fee. To produce a DVD, a license fee must be paid per disk. If they produce a disk using their new format, there is no fee. (This is a win for independent producers of content, as well as for countries keen on reducing cash transfersto the DVD consortium).
To make a player that plays just this new protocol, there is no license fee involved (I presme). The players they'll probably make will be APEX-like, playing DVDs, CDs, MP3s, and will probably pay a DVD licensing fee. At least, auditable units, or units shipped to the west will pay fees. Who knows about grey-market ones.

China is not communistic like Russia was. It has a great many free market approaches. For example, there are many private business.
In this case, the government is getting there money from other countries.
China is a free-market communism. which is far more dangerous competitor. The government decids it wants one of its companies to control a market, it essentially has a business that is backed by the government. A government that gets many billions of dollars from exports.
Where as free-market capitalism can cause the most wonderfull product in the world to die because of a few dollars, or monopolistic abuse.

Wait a minute, which China are we talking about? The communist "People's Republic" of China, or Taiwan? I thought Taiwan already was one of the leaders in the pacific rim in manufacturing. All my cheap crappy shit always had made in Taiwan stamped on it. It's only natural that poorer Asian countries take over manufacturing roles that first world nations once held. We're moving into roles of controlling and distributing information and have no time or desire to concern ourselves with the physical devices used to distribute that data. Does a person care how their car works? No, you step on the gas and it goes. It's a tool and is manufactured by low income uneducated people for the benefit of the upper class information elite. Or at least that's how it SHOULD be if we could rid this world of those god damn labor unions who artificially inflate prices and wages in order to turn minimum wage jobs into $100k/year careers.
