Cartoon Network Serves Up More Anime

E-Rock-23 writes "Anime News Network has the scoop on more Anime series Cartoon Network plans to bring to the Adult Swim block next year. Witch Hunter Robin (2) has been confirmed for a February run. On the "Probably" list are Wolf's Rain in April and Ghost in the Shell in July, though they didn't specify if it'd be the Mamoru Oshii film or the Stand Alone Complex TV series. Either way, the latter will most likely have to be rather heavily edited for TV. Looks like I have a few more reasons to stay up past my bedtime..." Or get a tivo. Witch Hunter Robin & Wolf's Rain are both really excellent shows- it's very cool to see them hit mainstream TV.

What's so great about subtitles? You spend half your time reading them and not watching what is going on. If you don't like the interpretation of the voices they selected, you're still at the mercy of the interpretation of the interpreter who did the subtitle.

The request smacks of snobbery and sounds like an attempt to appear sophisticated when it isn't warranted.

There seems to be to camps to this debate, those who appreciate cinema and the anime fan boys. Those who appreciate the art of film want the experience to be as close as director intended.

Then there are the fan boys, who just want to watch the colorful images and run out to buy the vinyl kits of their favorite mech. They love the lame dub job, and could careless about the butchering of the director's work.

It's the whole Pan-and-Scan vs Letterbox debate all over again

Just turn off the sound and turn on the Closed Captions and stop your whining.
