Cartoon Network Serves Up More Anime

E-Rock-23 writes "Anime News Network has the scoop on more Anime series Cartoon Network plans to bring to the Adult Swim block next year. Witch Hunter Robin (2) has been confirmed for a February run. On the "Probably" list are Wolf's Rain in April and Ghost in the Shell in July, though they didn't specify if it'd be the Mamoru Oshii film or the Stand Alone Complex TV series. Either way, the latter will most likely have to be rather heavily edited for TV. Looks like I have a few more reasons to stay up past my bedtime..." Or get a tivo. Witch Hunter Robin & Wolf's Rain are both really excellent shows- it's very cool to see them hit mainstream TV.

Joe Millionaire 2 is about as mainstream as you can get, and since the none of the girls speak english very well, all of their speech was subtitled.

The problem with the cartoon network is that a major part of its target market segment is children who can't read, so you're right, that will probably never be subtitled.

Why talk about Adult Swim staying on and only mention the anime? That's only half of the lineup! Sealab 2021, Aquateen Hunger Force, The Brak Show, Space Ghost, Harvey Birdman, Home Movies... these are all fantastically funny shows, not to mention they're the only place to see reruns of Family Guy and Futurama, two of the funniest cartoons ever.

Sure, anime's nice and all, but just as many people are attracted to the other shows on Adult Swim.

Also, Venture Brothers next summer, should be awesome if the pilot is anything to guage the series on.

I can't speak for Wolf's Rain, having not seen it, but I've seen WHR. (The original sub, even.)

In two words: NOTHING HAPPENS. AT ALL.

There are spoilers as I review the four plot events in the entire 26 episode series. I want the 10 hours of my life back.

Plot Point 1: around eps. 6-10, we come to the realization that Robin's power makes her eyes unfocus, so it's inaccurate. She needs glasses. The end.

Plot Point 2: around eps. 16-20, Robin finds a piece of wood which is the "Ultimate Spell". But, she already had said spell, and the piece of wood was really a Cracker Jack prize.

Plot Point 3: around eps. 20-24, we come to the realization that ... ORBO IS MADE FROM WITCHES.

Plot Point 4: ep26: STN-J is really run by the blandest supervillain ever created who thinks witches are an impurity of the human race, and wishes to remove them.

The end. It was very very boring. They make a point of Robin not being sexy in any way; thus, whenever she shows any skin whatsoever, we would drink. I think we might have actually taken three shots to this rule in about five episodes.

    Pathetic. *sigh*

Is this the "News for Nerds", or does it fall under "Stuff that matters"?

IIRC, in Episode 5 one of the characters has a Swastika armband. They didn't edit that out!!?
