SSC vs LinuxGazette.net Continued
An anonymous reader writes "To update an earlier story about the pending battle between SSC and LinuxGazette.net, it seems SSC has taken to officially asserting a trademark on the term 'Linux Gazette' and is asking them to relinquish the domain name. Interesting to note that LinuxGazette.net has issue 97 out, while SSC doesn't."
I have a better idea. How about linuxgazette.net, since they're the ones in the wrong by infringing on SSC's trademark, be civilized about this and change their name? SSC is totally justified in suing for trademark infringement. What, do you think you can just go start a company, register ibm.net, use their logo, and start marketing yourself as IBM.net just because you have 20 ex-IBM engineers on your staff? linuxgazette.net staffers are just being babies about this whole issue. If you don't like what SSC has done with the website, then go create your own site *with your own name*.
Pick a new name already. SSC invested plenty of "sweat of the brow" into the LG name -- it was only around as a small player for a couple of months, and then under SSC's wing for years. LG handed everything over to SSC (their words, not mine), and now they want to take it back. Well, I'm pretty sure SSC deserves more than that. If they'd just wanted to see LG do whatever they wanted they could have been donating cash to them, but you didn't see that happening, did you?
LG is now backing out of their agreement with SSC, but want to keep SSC's investment. They really need to grow the fuck up and join the real world.
Yeah, I *am* pissed! Everyone's ganging up on SSC, but they're doing what they have to do. SSC is a pillar of our community, while the LG is a lot more expendable. I have to wonder if the Linux community is really so stupid as to want to fight or boycott SSC, or if Bill Gates or someone else is funding you shills.
