New Battlestar Galactica - Worth a Series?
rwxJava asks: "Ok, so it finally aired! IMHO it was pretty good. The special effects were great (no major laws of physics were broken except maybe FTL travel), the characters, while drastically different from the original, were believable! After about an hour or so, I stopped trying to compare the mini-series with the original. My only complaint has to be the amount of commercials that Scf-Fi put in. I was able to put up a Christmas Tree during one commercial break. Guess the network needs to cash in on such a hyped up event! By the end, I was left wanting more! Anyone else think it is worthy of conversion to a series?" Now that you've have had a time to watch the entire 4-hour epic (does 4 hours really make a "mini-series"?), do you think your earlier comments were on target?
The spaceships in the new series weren't powered by Linux. That automatically makes this series inherently homosexual in nature.

This once again proves that Science Fiction is dead. Worse yet, there is always droves of "useful idiots" to support worthless pies of crap like BSG. Fortunately, I was smart enough as a child to watch Dr.Who and ignore the original BSG. I am not taking the "holier than thou" approach either. Mostly all american sci-fi totally blows and it appears that very few people today are lax to admit that. In regards to this new "reeeeeinvisionninining" of BSG: How would cylons create perfect FEMALE "human" cylons complete with overcharged sex drive, especially since there had been no contact with the cylons for FOURTY YEARS. What would they use as a basis to create this perfect female fem-bot. Acutal FUCKING on a Sci-fi show. Not playing around fucking, actual fucking. I sure hope parents did not let their kids stay up for BSG. "Real" or "Reel" world physics. O.K. either you have Star Wars "BOOOOM" sound and gigantic explosions or you have NONE If you are going totally realistic. It seems that the idiots who did the sound thought that if they tuned down the sound effects to be almost non-existent, that some uber-nerds would go "WOW, it's like Kubrick 2001 all over again! What geniuses these guys are!!!!" Unfortunately, it makes the space battles quite boring IMHO. Actually, I could go on and on, but it's just wasting time. HBO needs to create a sci-fi show, that's all I have to say.
"Jeremy, you need to get to an internet cafe and cut and paste some appropriate sentiments about me from the world wide
Looked down ya pants lately?
I thought the new Battlestar Galactica movie (sorry, I can't call a two part, 3.2 hour story a "miniseries") was pretty good. Not the most original thing ever, but well done. And it had that rarest of things: spaceships that don't move like fish. It broke new ground in two ways:
* I think it's great that Gaff finally got to waste a replicant on his own.
* And I don't remember Scorpius ever giving Crichton a hand-job!
