Free, Open Source OS For TI Calculators

nicklaszlo writes "TICalc.org announced yesterday that Patrick Pelisier has released a new beta OS, called PedroM, for the TI-89 and TI-92+ under the General Public License. Here is the source and binary. This is the first time a TI calculator has been free of proprietary software. The OS has 32 commands and backward compatibility for assembly programs. You can get a Windows/PC emulator of both calculators, for those who don't have either calculator, or don't want to risk their real system."

    The only way to get rid of this slime bag WASP-Mafia, oil barron ridden cartel of a government, this assault on Americans and anything one could laughingly call "a democracy", relies heavily on what a shit hole Iraq turns into. They need to die so that we can be free. Soldiers usually did that directly--i.e., fight those invading and harming a country. This time they need to die in defense of a lie from a lying adminstration to show these ignorant, dumb Americans that Bush is incompetent. They need to die so that Americans get rid of this deadly scum. It is obscene, Barbie Bush, how other sons (of much nobler blood) have to die to save us from your Rosemary's Baby spawn and his ungodly cohorts.

    I didn't believe this at first (and I don't have moderator points, so I can't test it).

    However, looking over the slashcode.org cvs code, he's correct.

    The comments table has a sid, cid, and pid columns. sid is the story #, cid, is the comment #, and pid is the poster id #. pid's default value is 0 for anonymous coward. Looking through the slashcode, I noticed that instead of checking for 0 as AC, it checks < 1 -- 0 or negative values are treated as AC.

    Looking further, the "Post Anonymously" box causes the -pid to be stored; ie if you're slashdot user #12345, -12345 would be stored in the comments db. Although it shows up as an AC post, it's possible for anyone with db access (or a subpoena) to find out who posted it if they were logged in.

    Another way to test this is to log in and post a comment, logged in. Set your preferences so that you get a message whenever someone posts a reply to your message, including AC's. Then stay logged in and post an anonymous reply to your own comment. You won't get a message because they know that you have replied to your own comment.

    Log out and then post a comment to see that you will get a message. Rob Malda refuses to address this backhanded behavior and this is why I refuse to subscribe to Slashdot. Who knows how they'll handle my address and billing information - they certainly won't tell me. [I've e-mailed Rob and asked him.]
