Downloadable Origami Motorcycles

gse writes "This is too cool. Yamaha has a series of very realistic origami motorcycles, freely downloadable from their website. There's also a cool little article on how the models are made. I knew the office dyesub would come in handy someday!"

"origami" means something like "folded paper". The Yamaha models are made by cutting and pasting paper, not folding. So they're not origami.

    They're cool nonetheless...

Have a look at 'Paper Models International'. I've been buying models from them occasionally for over ten years, and they've got some amazing things in the catalog.

Check out the JS Schrieber models of the Chartre Cathedral, and the first German locomotive, "Der Adler". The detail is fantastic.

I've always been fascinated by origami and paper models. Perhaps that's because I am so very bad at both. Anyway, here's some more paper goodness.

    • Star Trek paper models. There's a fantastically detailed Enterprise 1701 (refit) there.
    • Origami and Math. My calculus teacher in high school had a whole array (pardon the pun) of paper polyhedra.
    • Origami dinosaurs. I love the paper Tyranosaurus. Now if I only had paper Marshall, Will and Holly's to go with these I could play Origami Land of the Lost!
