Quite a cunning tactic really - have a bunch of people claiming that it is a legitimate link, making those who say it's something vile appear to be the trolls.
There's a ton of redirects when you follow the goatse link, and I'm also wondering it it's doing something clever with referer headers. If, say, the URL a moderator is reading from is in any way different from a normal Slashdot reader's URL, then a script could pick up on this and redirect them to a 'nice' page, while directing everyone else to a distended anus.
I really hope I haven't given someone an idea.
