I think one of the best features we can hope for is that we will have something in our web browsers that check for those times when we use long run on sentences that have no punctuation like commas or semicolons or dashes because such rambling on and on and on can make a post on a site like slashdot really hard to read its like you want to take a mental breath but you cant because there is no break in the veritable cavalcade of words that seem to never end and then you just want to roll over and die do you know what I mean its crazy sometimes how a post will ramble and ramble with disjointed ideas juxtaposed together in a colorful mishmash of never ending prose

And well, if I were watching George Bush from outside of western society when he reads from the bible and then goes into a call to war, well, I'd say it's really pretty scary too -- except he's actually been more successful on his crusades and has more dangerous weapons. One might assume that this is the Christian way but I suspect that most Christians might have something to say to that.

Being a Muslim and having grown up in a Muslim country all we talked about as kids was waning to go to America. Parents on the other Hand didn't think other wise. For one thing it is not safe. And on top of that everything America did for "them" made their lives more miserable. How can they be more tolerant?
Don't dismiss the notation that the US works for itself and itself alone. Yes it does good things for other but only when it is "in our national interest." Kind of sad isn't it?
I'm not a follower of any religion, but I've read "all" the nice and shiny little books - including the Quran. Do you want me to cite passages from the holy books of Judaism or Christianity where Jahwe/God wants the foreskins from the enemies?
... the stories are the same, the books are the same. Guess what - most of the religion is also the same. Mohammed interpreted it a lot later than Christ did, and for quite some time Islam was the most modern religion of those three. Nowadays it's not, but trying to portray it as being "more violent" is just plain stupid.
The God in the "Old Testament" (for the X:ites), the jewish Jahwe and Allah are all equally cruel - BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME GOD.
Oh, and the Quran compares the Jews to donkeys.
And the Bible says that _everyone_ except God's own little tribe are barbarians and can be freely killed when wanting the land God "gave" to them.

Christ was the prophet who talked about being friendly, God himself always ok'd killing everyone not agreeing with you (if you believed in It, this killing everyone not agreeing with It).
We're down to semantics now. Interesting, isn't it? There's absolutely no more "violence" in the Quran compared to the Torah/Old testament. People claiming "Islam does this and Islam does that" seldom know anything about Islam, and mistake ancient traditions that has nothing to do with the religion with Islam itself.
People in Europe are a bit more open-minded than in the US - which fits well when viewing Scientific American's map of modernity where the Nordic countries (with Sweden in the lead) tops the list. We see "God bless America" and "Allah Akhbar" being the same thing, and that the war between ignorant people in the US and ignorant followers of bin Laden being equally stupid.

As for Libya, some of the change also had to do with the US/UK intercepting a shipment of nuclear weapon production equipment headed for Libya last year.
As for Arabs learning about Americans from Hollywood, I would hope that they are smarter than doing that. Do Americans learn about the French from imported art films, the English from Monty Python, or Mexicans from Telemundo? I think not. To do so would require a serious lack of thought. People are people wherever, and if Arabs 'know' Americans from movies, they only see what they want to see like Americans who see all Muslims as terrorists.
