Doom 3 Vaporware no More
gilxa1226 writes "The waiting will soon be over... I was browsing Best Buy's website, and saw a preorder for Doom 3. It looks as though the release date is 4/1/2004. Doom 3.com also has info on presales."

Friends, I just researched this this MORNING in fact for my son's birthday gift, and I found that it's priced as follows:
Doom 3 PC - $54.82 - WAL-MART
DOOM 3 with Bonus! - $54.99 - EBgames.com
Doom 3 - Windows - $59.99 - Best (Worst!) Buy
PLEASE don't waste $5+ at Best Buy. If anything, get from Circuit City and not Best Buy because Best Buy costs a lot to return items there, whereas Circuit City lets you return anything, hassle-free, for 30 DAYS. And that's only if you HATE Wal-Mart.
I know a lot of people who HATE Wal-Mart because they're ruining American culture and various small towns across the country by putting Mom & Pop stores out of business. It's just not right what they're doing.
But still, they have DAMN good prices, so I buy stuff from Wal-Mart all the time because my salary (and higher education salaries) just AREN'T what they used to be. I barely make enough to support my wife and children.
Enjoy the game though. Here's a description of what to expect:
# Take part in a terrifying battle with the forces of the Hell. A massive demonic invasion has overwhelmed the Union Aerospace Corporations' Mars Research Facility, leaving only chaos and horror in its wake. As one of only a few survivors, you struggle with shock and fear as you fight your way to Hell and back in an epic clash against pure evil.Blast away through intensely realistic and visually stunning environments
# Enter a frightening 3D landscape
# Experience realistic physics and surround-sound
# Encounter real-time dynamic lighting
# Compete in vicious multiplayer action where shadows can be used to your advantage

I'm as likely to buy it from Wal-Mart as I am to buy it from McDonalds.
For similar reasons I don't buy fuel from Bush's buddies at Esso.
Remember your compatriots pouring French wine down the drain. It wasn;t because French wine was expensive it was because France decided not to help the US to colonize Iraq.
Even just the $2.85 million contributed to Bush's campaign is enough reason for me.

You must be from France.
