Microsoft's Security Report Card
Decaffeinated Jedi writes "In January 2002, Microsoft launched an initiative called 'Trustworthy Computing' aimed at building better security into its products. It's now two years later, and News.com serves up a report card evaluating Microsoft's efforts. Kevin Kean, a group manager at Microsoft's Security Response Center, points out that customers are better off now than they were before the company made the move to refocus on security issues. An analyst quoted in the article, Stephen O'Grady, agrees that he would give Microsoft 'improved marks,' but also notes that the company is not yet where it needs to be in terms of security. He goes on to suggest, however, that 'the numbers indicate that they are at least taking it seriously.' It sounds like Microsoft might have earned itself an Incomplete on this report card."

There is only room for 2 types of OS in this world:
1 Mac for the beginners/home users due to less issues and easier to use.
2 *NIX Linux/BSD/Solaris whatever, for the more advanced users, servers, etc.
There is no place in this world for MS...it has no benifits other then it has "lots of software" for it...which it didn't always have, remember. Its more expensive, insecure, unstable, resource hog, bloatware, big brother POS. Ok, I'm done...just had to vent since MS security topics always piss me off since MS never gives a crap about any of this, they just want the big $$. They only reason they rush stuff is so they can make MORE $$ on fixes then blame it on lack of time to finish the product. I mean come on, they've been "rushing" unfinished products out the door all the time, why? They are a monopoly!? That's it - their bottom line is the green back. Linux has its dedicated geeks doing it for the good of all. Mac has its following of dedicated users and have tried to do their best to please their customers (i.e. is very customer service oriented...except in lui of the news articles as of late, maybe). What does windows have? Just a 2ton gorilla in the corner if you look at the other two...nothing but bullied its way into the market and onto peoples desktops...hell, the original DOS code wasn't even Bill Gate's he bought/stole it from someone else.
