UK Mobile Providers Introduce WAP Censorship

godsmoke writes "UK mobile providers have formed an alliance to block 'inappropriate content' from cell phone users under the age of 18. 'It covers images, video, gambling, games, chatrooms and net access but not premium rate voice and SMS services', says a BBC News article. The Code authorizing the changes is called the 'Code of Practice', and: 'Content with an 18 certificate will only be available when the network operators verify the age of the user'."

No under 18 year old would ever bother jerking off to low quality cell phone porn, so I don't see why that particular industry should be regulated on a cellular network.

Right back atcha. So your definition of a pedophile is someone that has sex only with prepubescent individuals? At 14, most girls have more than reached puberty. Does that make it ok for a 30 year old man to try to have sex with them? Give me a break.

    Think before you write.

"Right back atcha". Instead of pulling out the obligatory extreme example, think about the ones that are a bit closer to the wire, like a 15 y/o and a just-turned-18 y/o.

But there are sites out there espousing illegal or just plain twisted activities. To argue otherwise is either grossly naive or stupid.

Nearly all of which you have to go out of your way to look for and find. Perhaps you should be more concerned about your child *looking* for objectionable material rather than *finding* it ?
