United Linux Dead
DesScorp writes "ZDnet has a story about the impending demise of United Linux, with former general manager Paula Hunter stating that 'the legal entity still exists but I turned the lights out'. While a couple of reasons were given for UL's demise, most of the blame was firmly laid on the shoulders of SCO. As a member of group, their lawsuits killed off any real product development. SCO apparently refused to resign from UL, and Hunter said that 'As long as they remained a member, it remained impossible for us to begin new projects'. Which brings up the question, couldn't the other group members have kicked them out?"

This has to be good news - MS beats Wall St. estimates and now Linux is dead.
Netcraft couldn't confirm if they had their thumb in their ass.
The Illuminati did it. "It's good that UnitedLinux is fading, Illuminata analyst Gordon Haff said...
What?
Whichever fag keeps modding me funny needs to quit it because it drops my karma faster than cowboyneal can ejacuate while thinking of Rei.
So much time spent, to get first post and talk about SCO's licensing fees.
Trolling truly is a lost art.
But I wonder, why do we bother?
Slashdot trolling. What is it all about? Is it good, or is it whack?
i haven't figured out /. quite yet, i still see posts from trolls^^^ er foes, but i do see the pretty red dot. ..you're a troll...
In the long past, I have boughtt different versions of Microsoft OS's (the last one being win 98SE a long time ago), but microsoft's behaviour in that: 1)FUD concerning Linux and Open Source software and 2)MS's funding of SCO to cause all this grief is just too much...I will never buy a MS product again and I will recommend to everyone I know, all about MS dirty tricks. When I workded as an assembler at a small PC builder (14 years ago) you couldn't buy a PC without windows and intel on it, (it was basically considered illegal to do so), and most PC builders could lose their liscence and get procecuted by doing so, same when the CPU competition started to appear, the company I worked at (small PC builder) had contracts with intel and MS, and I accidentally used their address to send away for AMD chip info, needless to say, the company had a bird, because they told me, if Intel found out, Intel could cut them out (and mabey do worse) and they would be really screwed...when you are dealing with two 600 pound gorillas (intel and MS (back then)), you had to be aware of what you did and said.
Agence France-Presse reports that a controversy has erupted in Saudi Arabia over unveiled women at the Jeddah Economic Forum:
A delegation of Islamic sheikhs led by a blind cleric attended Wednesday's audience with the crown prince and petitioned him against the events in Jeddah.
The mufti had railed that not only did newspapers splash the women on page one, some portrayed their conduct as "the beginning of the liberation of Saudi women--as if they were being constrained by Islamic law."
A blind cleric? That explains a lot. He can't look at women, so he won't let anyone else do it, either.
Ask yourself instead "why does *my* crapactular operating system NEED a defragmenter?"
First BDS, now United Linex.
