Boot Windows Faster, Using Linux

BiOFH writes "TechNewsWorld is reporting that InterVideo has a solution for slow boot times runing Windows XP MCE. 'The new Linux-based InstantOn software -- designed to help Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs boot more quickly -- is aimed at taking advantage of the power of Intel's Pentium processors, not at fixing fragmented hard drives. The software integrates into the computer's BIOS and the operating system.'" According to this article, the software uses a small Linux partition on the user's hard drive. I wonder how BIOSes with hard-wired Microsoft-based DRM would cooperate with this scheme.

    Like everyone else, I was amused that despite his "vast" number of supporters and incredible fund raising prowess, he came in 3rd in Iowa.

    To that effect, last night I went to a howard dean "meetup.com" house party to see what the disconnect was.

    The howard dean fundraiser was more like a college frat party than a political event. There was plenty of alcohol, keg stands, funneling, you get the idea. Half the people in attendence didn't seem old enough to vote, and most that I talked to weren't even registered.

    I couldn't find one person that wanted to discuss Howard Dean's health care proposal. In fact, no one would discuss politics at all, except to say that "Bush is, like, Hitler, dude!". When pressed for specifics, the subject quickly changed.

    Given that these "supporters" were more interested in getting drunk and laid (I walked in on 3 sexual encounters. One of which I was invited to participate), it's not surprising they can't bother voting for him.
