MusicXML DTD Hits 1.0; Browser Support Next?
base_chakra writes "Two years since its initial release, the MusicXML music notation document type has finally reached v1.0. MusicXML is an (you guessed it) XML-based musical score format developed by Recordare LLC, and derived from the MuseData and Humdrum projects. Although MusicXML was quickly adopted by virtually every major music notation software products available, a standard non-binary format for rendering music notation on the web is something that's still sorely needed. Despite its unfortunate limitations, will MusicXML eventually become the de facto means of rendering music notation online, or will it fall into obscurity like so many document types?"

It will unmistakably surprise some people to hear me say this, but The SCO Group is living testimony to the randy attitudes that oppress, segregate, and punish others. For most of the facts I'm about to present, I have provided documentation and urge you to confirm these facts for yourself if you're skeptical. You may have noticed that as The SCO Group feels less and less need to conceal its double standards, it makes increasingly open moves towards frowzy irrationalism. But you don't know the half of it. For starters, I do not propose a supernatural solution to the problems we're having with The SCO Group. Instead, I propose a practical, realistic, down-to-earth approach that requires only that I argue about its tricks.
Why don't more people complain when they see The SCO Group leach integrity and honor from our souls? It's because The SCO Group has mastered the art of tricking people with images and myths. It creates myths about what the world is like and then generates false images to match those myths. This proves to me, at least, that The SCO Group speaks like a true defender of the status quo -- a status quo, we should not forget, that enables it to use paid informants and provocateurs to make empty promises.
Once we have absorbed and understood The SCO Group's unpatriotic, ungrateful put-downs, it is our inescapable responsibility to do whatever is necessary to burn away social illness, exploitation, and human suffering. Although it requires risk, commitment, and follow-through to keep our priorities in check, it may seem difficult at first to give The SCO Group condign punishment. It is. But The SCO Group shouldn't replace discourse and open dialogue with acrimonious outbursts and blatant ugliness. That would be like asking a question at a news conference and, too angry and passionate to wait for the answer, exiting the auditorium before the response. Both of those actions put the gods of heaven into the corner as obsolete and outmoded and, in their stead, burn incense to the idol Mammon. You know what? The SCO Group thinks that it is always being misrepresented and/or persecuted. Of course, thinking so doesn't make it so.
Today, as yesterday, The SCO Group should shift for itself. Let me try to explain what I mean by that in a single sentence: The SCO Group wants us to believe that the only way to expand one's mind is with drugs -- or maybe even chocolate. How stupid does it think we are? That is, in view of its confused propositions, what does it make sense for us to do now? Before you answer, let me point out that it intends to create a new social class. Disgusting scrubs, repressive numskulls, and what I call lascivious hedonists will be given aristocratic status. The rest of us will be forced into serving as their slaves. Well, sure; the pressures and stresses that The SCO Group's henchmen undergo lead them to spit in the face of propriety, but that doesn't change reality. My cause is to make an impartial and well-informed evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of The SCO Group's diatribes. I call upon men and women from all walks of life to support my cause with their life-affirming eloquence and indomitable spirit of human decency and moral righteousness. Only then will the whole world realize that I have one itsy-bitsy problem with The SCO Group's sophistries. Videlicet, they encumber the religious idea with too many things of a purely earthly nature and thus bring religion into a totally unnecessary conflict with science. And that's saying nothing about how it claims that it understands the difference between civilization and savagery. That claim illustrates a serious reasoning fallacy, one that is pandemic in its projects. Then again, if The SCO Group thinks its jokes represent progress, it should rethink its definition of progress. The SCO Group can't seriously believe that laws are meant to be broken, can it? While I don't know the answer to that particular question, I do know that if you've read any of the villainous slop that it has concocted, you'll indisputably reca
