Why Doesn't .NET Include a Linker?

CrypticSpawn asks: "I read an article on Joel on Software it talks about Microsoft missing one important thing from the .NET infrastructure, and I wanted to know what Slashdot readers thought were Microsoft's reasons for leaving [a linker] out?"

    When you considre the fact that .NET is a windows only platform you would think they'd have one.

    it will be sold in microsoft .Net plus this upcoming summer.

    Jesus fucking christ. Can we knock off the DAILY "articles from Joel" that are being posted on Slashdot? Okay - we get it. Some guy that works at a small software company has his own blog. You know what - if we want to read EVERY FUCKING ARTICLE HE EVER WRITES, we will go visit HIS site.

    God fucking damn it. Seriously. This is worse than fucking Jon Katz.
