Is Open Source Fertile Ground for Foul Play?
jsrjsr writes "In an article DevX.com entitled Open Source Is Fertile Ground for Foul Play, W. Russell Jones argues that open source software is bad stuff. He argues that open source software, because of its very openness, will inevitably lead to security concerns. He says that this makes adoption of open source software by governments particularly worrisome. In his words: 'An old adage that governments would be well-served to heed is: You get what you pay for. When you rely on free or low-cost products, you often get the shaft, and that, in my opinion, is exactly what governments are on track to get.'"
Sounds familiar, I seem to remember someone else saying that...
"You get what you pay for after all." --
Yes, feed the little trolls and gobblins!

Ban Jones Russell - or whatever ur name is!
You know, I was going to give an intelligent, well-thought-out rebuttal to your original post, but this kind of childishness just shows me it'd be a wasted effort.
Nobody cares that you got modded down, and no one gives a damn what you think about it.
I don't really care about my karma. Sometimes Slashdot's way to enforce groupthink via "unbiased" moderation just gets under my skin...
I don't really care about rebuttals either because I've seen them all - after all, I used to be an open source bigot myself until I did what you just told me to do.
I grew up.
The owls are not what they seem
Sorry if this has been posted already, but isn't Russell Jones the same guy who goes around calling himself "Old Dirty Bastard" of the Wu Tang Clan?
