US Congress Committee Talking About Privacy

rm007 writes "The US House of Representatives Judicial Committee's Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law is holding hearings on the Privacy Officer for the Department of Homeland Security and approved the Defense of Privacy Act. The DHS Privacy Officer hearings are to examine how well the incumbent, Nuala O'Connor Kelly, is doing and whether the statute creating the position sufficiently addresses concerns about the handling of personally identifiable information. This should be worth watching. Wired News has an article that covers both of these as does GovExec.com, a newsletter for senior Federal employees."

First off, I find your arrogance amusing. You seem to think that anyone and everyone is just clamoring to spy on you with their bank ATM cameras and Wal-Mart surveillance electronics.

The fact that you're uncomfortable being on camera has nothing to do with privacy -- it just means that you're a whimpster:

"He is male. He is white. He is wimpy. He looks a little bit emo, a little bit hipster, and he's more dangerous than you'd think. So, the next time you wake up next to someone whispering acrimonious nothings about his ex-girlfriend instead of going down on you, you'll know a little more about this seemingly gentle boy you went home with."

So essentially, if tools like yourself are thoseh who are against these privacy measures, I say right on and let's go ahead and do it. Anything to piss off know-nothing nobodies like yourself.

That was Clinton(Democrat) not Bush. He was probably getting hummer at the time he made the call. I think he was trying to make his load hit at the sametime as the missles. Part of that problem is that he destroy the CIA and such, so of course his INTEL was crap and we have been paying for that mistake ever since. What and see when Keery gets into office. The US won't go anywhere do anything. That should make a lot of people happy. Put people in office are not willing to make the judgement call. Make the US, like the UN.

Huh? Oh, I get it - you think there's a difference! You think Clinton is a terrorist but Bush isn't? My point is that *the US government* as an institution is terrorist, as any Palestinian will tell you, should you listen to them.
I'm afraid the rest of your reply was a little confusing. Clinton didn't destroy the CIA - it's still going, as far as I can tell (although I'll admit that I'm not an American).

    > The US won't go anywhere do anything.

They're all over the place - currently getting a good kicking in Iraq. Perhaps Bush's claims that the war was over and that the "remnants" of the opposition to the USs occupation should "bring it on" were a poorly judged?

Face it. Two plane crash into the Twin Towers. Loss: lives and material. Cause: terrorists.

But what does the US Govt do, to its own people:
    - create fear
    - create privacy-bashing laws
    - everyone is guilty until - wait -> proof not necessary
    - create nonsense-ministry ("homeland sec")
    - keep on creating fear

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO YOURSELVES? THE PLANE HAS CRASHED YEARS AGO AND YOU KEEP ON DUMPING FREEDOMS YOU HAD? WHY? Terrorists have won.
