Arctic Ice Holds Much CO2

scottie2shoes writes "The Edmonton Journal is reporting fascinating research on the role of arctic ice in absorbing carbon dioxide. It seems that (contrary to what was previously thought) arctic ice actually absorbs significant quantites of CO2 and is thus a key player in the 'greenhouse gas game'. So melting the ice caps won't just flood thousands of square miles of land and wipe out thousands of species, now it is is starting to sound serious..."

Thanks. Several other people have answered, and I just haven't gotten around to changing my .sig.

Takes like eight seconds. You are one lazy SOB. And selfish, as you let other people waste their time responding.

and the earth itself acting as the heat source.

    hahahaha

If co2 is such a good insulator that it keeps heat within the atmosphere, it's just as good an insulator to keep it out.

The Earth isn't heated by convection or even by conduction, so the insulating properties of CO2 are no good for keeping heat out.

The nick "PhysicsMoron" is still available. You should get it -- for you are a moron when it comes to physics.

but, i've also never seen anything to say otherwise, with some kind of 'proof' to validate the assumption that sun radiation is constant,

It's not. In the time it took you to write these inane paragraphs, you could easily have googled on this subject. Nobody cares enough to read your perfectly uninformed meandering speculations about this or any other scientific subject. BTW, your writing style sucks bigtime.

The equations to figure out what's going on in terms of median temperature of the earth over time are pretty simple.

No they're not, you fucking moron. Why the fuck do you think every single climate model is HOPELESSLY WRONG? Moron. I'll give you a hint: it's because you're fucking wrong about how simple it is. Modelling climate is hard, even for people who are smarter than you, viz., most people.

When I'm not working at the computer, I do have another job that allows me to see glaciers on an almost daily basis. For most of the last 20 years, the foot of the Homathko glacier seen from above has been retreating on a fairly consistent basis. It advances over the winter, and retreats over the summer, with a net overall retreat annually, until the last couple of years. Over the last couple of years, it's had a net annual advance.
