Allnet GPL Infringement Settled Constructively
Elektroschock writes "LWN has coverage of a GPL dispute settled in a constructive manner. Allnet GmbH, German manufacturer and distributor of networking equipment, including switches, routers, NICs and wireless adapters, infringed the GNU Public License of netfilter/iptables. As part of the settlement Allnet GmbH will donate money to tax-exempt not-for-profit organizations, i.e. FSF Europe and FFII. Both organisations lobby for better copyright and patent legislation in Europe."
Whoever cannot see the irony deserves to feel insulted.
I don't know, but I do know if you ROT-13 the last 11 bytes of the iptables binary, it spells out "Heil Hitler"
And if we're lucky, we might even get the topic to spin off enough so we can call someone a nazi!
Dude, stay away from GPL code. That shit is poison. Just do what Microsoft does: use BSD code. There's a lot of good stuff there and it doesn't endanger our capitalist framework.
Flame war? How so?
Everyone knows that Linux is better than Windows(in every way imagineable).
Everyone knows that BSD is better than Linux, in every way imagineable.
Everyone knows that America is WAY better than Europe.
Conservative and Liberal? These things do not matter. What matters is, THEY'RE WRONG.
And as for Macs, well, yeah, that could start a flame war. Seems the only people who don't realize that Macs are the worst possible thing, I mean worse than herpes, syphyllis and anal warts combined, are Mac users.
Everybody rips off the gpl. It's not even enforceable. For every story like this there are 10,000 other companies doing the same thing and will never be caught or are even afraid of being caught. Thanks for the spaghetti code though, dirty hippies. I was going to rip off the telnet server code, but it was such a monsterous mess it wasn't even worth it.
Only DORKS get caught using GPLed code in their products.
