MS May Be Forced To Sell Stripped-Down OS In EU

An anonymous reader submits "According to this article at Infoworld, Microsoft may be forced to sell a stripped-down version of Windows in the EU as a result of antitrust rulings, unless a settlement is reached during the next month to six weeks." (See this post from last week for more background on the EU's antitrust proceedings.)

No discount could be deep enough to accept anything but a full installation of Windows.

If users want an OS that is stripped down, they can install Linux.

Job's drug use is well known. Last I heard, recreational drug use is ILLEGAL. Lawbreakers should be monitored and expected to conform to laws closer as well. If Apple is going to continue to abet, harbor and employ a narcotic criminal (Jobs) as it's CEO, then they must abide by the same restrictions as MS. To not do so would be hypocritical.

I don't see any /. uproar about how DVDs are monopoly priced to pay off the mpeg2 patent/codec owner.

So fuck off with the Microsoft codec is a monopoly bullshit since you obviously don't care about the dollars extra you spend when getting a mpeg2 codec in a dvd player and also in each and every DVD you buy.

Windows crappy player sucks, its slow and it crashes. In a os like windows it brings the whole os down and guess what you have to do? yes you know it well its called reboot. Winamp is a much better player then windows meadia player and its not installed or bundled as a option in windows. It far better then windows media player ever wanted to be. LInux has more options and XMMS never crashed on me ever and I use xine for movies and I never ever had a blue screen of death. and you said "so it's okay if you run a sloppy and ineffiecent operation that prefers to confuse it's customers?" then why are you using windows?
