A First Look At The GIMP 2.0

An anonymous reader writes "Brice Burgess has given everyone a good peek at what's coming in 2.0 for the GIMP in his review over on NewsForge. Don't like the old UI? It's gone. All new. There have also been megawumpus improvements in the text tool. Brice says he sees some room for improvement still, but overall he is "very impressed."" (Slashdot and NewsForge are both part of OSDN.) The new text tools are a big step up, though the interface as a whole remains a love-it-or-hate-it thing.

I find it pretty ironic that the best thing for US homeland security right now is for bin Laden to evade capture. It seems pretty obvious that Bush wants to catch the guy right before election time so he can get the big boost in popularity and get re-elected that way. And as any educated person knows, Bush is the biggest threat to world peace, thereby making him the biggest threat to American security. So wouldn't that imply that we should all be cheering for bin Laden's freedom?

er, what kind of retard mod made the parent informative?

FYI, the Pulp Fiction quote, word-for-word correct or otherwise, has nothing to do with GIMP 2.0 and qualifies for Funny at best.

now mod me +1 Insightful -2 Offtopic, and while I'm at it I'll take a -1 Troll for "fuck you, you stupid dickheads!"

How many people here are still using windows??

I'm really surprised at the comments I see, it seems like a majority of users on slashdot are primarily windows users. The new GIMP is like a completely new beast on linux. I can't really speak to the windows version.

If your using windows, just stay with photoshop. You paid for the MS license, might as well pay for the photoshop license if you've got money..

These days there's no reason to use windows unless you play games that don't run on linux.
