Using Java for this is clearly a sign of language-zealots wanting to do something the wrong way. This ups the cost of the device (RAM, CPU, etc), increases latency, etc, all because it wants to be "java". Java may have been initially intended for embedded devices, but it's about the worst possible language for them now! And then we add the instability of the JVM....great....just what I want for a reliable embedded device.
